reds: sangiovese di romagna: a clone of the Tuscan sangiovese, can produce some deep, aromatic wines that can be aged, but most often it is a good, easy-to-drink, lightly flavorful and generally inexpensive wine. lambrusco: most lambrusco can properly be classified as among the poorest wines of the world, sweet, fizzy, exportable in any kind of bottle. But in this region there are three DOC's, near the town of Modena, that can provide wines that are fresh, fruity and even frizzy, but can also be deeper in color, lower in acid, with lovely aromas.
